Humble beginnings
Our story starts with Padazis Kontogiorgis moving from his birthplace Lefkada to Ithaca to open a grocery store with his two kids and wife. Seasoned in sailing he manages to buy his own small transport ship after some years and starts selling fruit vegetable and groceries he buys from the mainland in Ithaca and Kefalonia.
He always keeps his retail store in Vathi run by his wife and minor at the time kids when he is away. Years pass and the island has a ferry route towards the port of Patras once per week. Padazis buys his first truck in 1982.
Charalambos(Babis) Kontogiorgis takes over the business from his father in 1989.
Present Day
Babis Kontogiorgis has managed over the years to modernize his fathers business with a fleet of trucks for his provisioning and several vehicles for local deliveries.
Fruit and vegetables has always been the hearth of the business but over the years with important partnerships in the wine , spirits , beer and soft drinks
sectors he maintains a vast portfolio of brands trading wholesale and retail. The backbone of the firm , its modern warehouses in Ithaca were built in 2003 while the heart of it its retail store in Vathi remain at the same street since 1963!
